Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an Effluent Technician to install, maintain, and service effluent management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and efficient operation. The role involves welding and fabrication tasks, routine inspections and repairs, workshop support, and liaison with clients in the Waikato region, with some travel required.

Qualifications include NZ Certificate Level 4 or equivalent experience; health, safety and environmental standards knowledge; Site Safe

Qualifications

  • Holds NZ Certificate Level 4 or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year practical experience in horticulture, viticulture, or workshop labour.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Welding/fabrication experience is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and welding effluent systems (pumps, pipes, fittings).
  • Conduct routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on effluent equipment.
  • Provide workshop support including fabrication and welding tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with NZ environmental and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with clients to provide technical support and resolve issues.

The Effluent Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of effluent management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and operational efficiency.

  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to travel to other locations within the Waikato region.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
  • Holds a qualification equivalent to NZ Certificate Level 4 or has relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Minimum of one year of practical experience in related fields such as horticulture, viticulture, or workshop labour.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with welding and fabrication tasks is advantageous but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of effluent management systems and agricultural practices.
  • Practical experience with welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Site Safe Passport advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the setup and welding of effluent systems, including pumps, pipes, and fittings.
Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on effluent equipment.
Workshop Support:
  • Provide general labour assistance in the workshop, including fabrication and welding tasks.
Compliance:
  • Ensure systems meet New Zealand environmental and safety regulations.
Customer Service:
  • Liaise with clients to provide technical support and resolve operational issues.
