Job summary

Deloitte New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an Economics Consultant to join our Strategy practice. You will deliver quantitative analysis, economic modelling, and policy insights to public and private sector clients, helping them make evidence-based decisions.

You will work with a collaborative team across New Zealand and global networks, mentor junior staff, and contribute to proposals, client presentations, and market development.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Economics, Data Science, Public Policy, or related discipline.
• 2–3 years' experience in economic consulting, policy, government, or related analytical environment.
• Ability to manage workstreams and deliver high-quality, client-ready outputs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support client engagements through quantitative analysis, research, report writing, and economic modelling including macroeconomic forecasting, CGE, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Input-Output modelling, and econometric analysis.
• Contribute to development of proposals, presentations, and client-facing materials.
• Support business development, thought leadership, and marketing for Economic Advisory practice.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders through interviews, workshops, presentations, and surveys.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and QA support to junior team members.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Deloitte to deliver impactful outcomes for clients.
