Deloitte New Zealand’s Tax team is widely regarded as experts and leaders in their field. We are looking for a Tax Senior Consultant to join our Hamilton-based team, advising a portfolio of clients on SME and corporate tax issues.

This role offers exposure to employment taxes, GST and other areas, with opportunities to grow technical and management skills, while serving as a role model for integrity and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment.
• Professional qualification in law or accounting.
• Strong understanding of end to end tax processes & the NZ tax environment.
• Experience in specialist areas of tax would be beneficial (but not essential).
• Excellent team player and proven organisational and communications skills.
• New Zealand tax experience is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Advising on a wide range of business tax matters from tax compliance to tax planning.
• Helping clients identify, manage and mitigate tax risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines.
• Influencing clients and the team positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior people.
• Applying knowledge of current and pending tax legislation's and understanding interaction across global tax functions, specifically in your areas of expertise.
• Fact based decision making by using the appropriate research techniques and skills.
• Improving work efficiency, effectiveness and client service by using common technology tools.
• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns and tax provisions.
