Job summary

Silver Fern Farms Limited seeks an energetic Trainer on a fixed-term basis to lead departmental training at our Belfast Operations. You will drive health and safety, coordinate induction, and develop staff through structured programs, supporting continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.

You’ll work closely with the Employment & Training Coordinator, supervisors and recruitment to align training with operational needs.

Qualifications

• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and an organised, proactive working style.
• Experience, or understanding, of training practices and policies, ideally in production/manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and professional guidance to team members.
• Coach and mentor employees to support personal and operational success.
• Work collaboratively across teams to ensure effective support.
• Manage training workflows to achieve required outcomes and quality standards.
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing of all trainees.
• Coordinate training and development activities aligned with business needs.
• Ensure training aligns with industry unit standards where practical.
• Train and assess employees in induction programmes, meat processing tasks and site requirements.
• Maintain accurate training records and monitor training outcomes.
• Support onboarding and ongoing skills development.
• Monitor competency progression and assist supervisor sign-off processes.
• Identify skill gaps and provide coaching and support to employees and supervisors.
• Ensure refresher training is completed within required timeframes.
• Partner with buddy trainers to support consistent learner development.
• Coordinate new starter placement with recruitment team and supervisors.
• Arrange PPE and locker allocation for new employees.
• Complete Our Technique inductions, conduct site tours, introduce new employees to key personnel.
