Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Duty Nurse Manager (DNM) to provide senior nursing leadership and operational management for inpatient safety and patient flow at Whangarei Hospital. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and safe outcomes for patients and service users.

The role requires registration with the Nursing Council of NZ, 5+ years post-registration with 2 years in acute settings, and a postgraduate qualification or progression

Qualifications

• Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holder of a current annual practicing certificate.
• At least 5 years post-registration experience, with 2 years in an acute setting.
• Post graduate nursing qualification or working towards.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and demands.
• Previous experience in a senior nursing, patient flow, coordination, or operational role is highly desirable.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate and direct the activities of others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across clinical teams and services.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior nursing leadership and support to clinical teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality care and treatment.
• Oversee inpatient safety, capacity planning, seasonal variation response, variance response management and acute patient flow.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage staff and resources across IOC.
• Support the Clinical Nurse Manager IOC in hours and liaise with the on-call Senior Manager out of hours.
