Job summary

VTNZ Pascoe Street branch in Nelson is seeking a Driver Testing Officer to join the team full time. This dual role includes front counter duties and training to cover CSR responsibilities.

You will conduct driving tests for cars, motorcycles and trucks, ensuring compliance with New Zealand traffic law. The role requires strong customer service and clear communication, with four weeks of paid training and rostered weekend work.

Qualifications

• Current, full and clean New Zealand driver’s licence (held 2+ years, able to drive manual)
• Customer service experience, ideally in a pressured environment
• Excellent written and oral English communication
• Technically minded with sound judgement and observation skills
• Ability to work Monday to Friday and rostered weekends
• Meet requirements to gain an 'O Endorsement' on your licence including eyesight and medical testing

Responsibilities

• Test safe driving practices according to New Zealand traffic law across cars, motorcycles and trucks
• Conduct tests for multiple vehicle classes under NZ licensing rules

VTNZ Pascoe Street branch in Nelsonis looking for a Driver Testing Officer to join their team full time. This will be a dule role with additional training to cover front counter duties.

You will be required to test safe driving practices according to New Zealand's traffic law. We test not only light passenger vehicles but motorcycles and trucks too.

Requirements

• Current, Full & CleanNew ZealandDriver's Licence (having held it for 2+ years and capable of driving manual vehicles) Please note it is our preference you hold up to class 5 Driver Licence.
• Customer service experience, ideally experience working with customers in a pressured environment
• Excellent written and oralEnglish comprehension and communication
• Technically mindedwith sound judgement and observation skills
• Ability to work Monday to Friday and rostered weekends
• Meet requirements to gain an 'O Endorsement' on your licence which will include eyesight and medical testing

We up-skill you with four weeks' intensive paid training so you can gain an 'O' Endorsement on your drivers licence (required for this role). Training may be away from your home location, but all costs will be covered by us. The next training intake startsOctober 2026.

As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to complete some pre-employment checks including demerit check, practical drive and theory testing- so get revising on that Road Code!

You’ll be available to work 40 hours per week plus rostered weekend work.
