Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking an experienced Class 2 or 4 Driver to join our Technical Services team, driving and servicing customers while safely transporting liquid and hazardous waste.

You will perform vehicle checks, maintain records, and support wider operations. Travel to out-of-town sites is required; training and safety standards are emphasized. 40 hours a week with competitive rates.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Class 2 or 4 driver licence.
• Experience driving heavy vehicles.
• Knowledge of transporting dangerous goods.
• Strong health and safety commitment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and specialised equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collect, load, transport and unload liquid and hazardous waste.
• Complete scheduled customer services to a high standard.
• Carry out daily vehicle and safety checks.
• Maintain accurate documentation and service records.
• Keep vehicle and equipment clean and well presented.
• Follow DG, fatigue management and company procedures.

Job Description

The role you’ll play
Our Technical Services team specialises in the safe collection, transportation and processing of liquid and hazardous waste.

We’re looking for an experienced Class 2 or 4 Driver who takes pride in working safely, providing excellent service and getting the job done properly.

This is more than a driving role. You’ll be out on the road servicing customers, operating specialised vehicles and equipment, and safely transporting a range of liquid and hazardous waste materials.

Key responsibilities

• Operating vehicles and specialist equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collecting, loading, transporting and unloading liquid and hazardous waste.
• Completing scheduled customer services to a high standard.
• Carrying out daily vehicle, equipment and safety checks.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and service records.
• Keeping your vehicle and equipment clean, safe and well presented.
• Following Dangerous Goods, fatigue management and company procedures.
• Delivering friendly, professional service to our customers.
• Supporting the wider team with waste processing and operational duties when required.

Please also note that out-of-town trips will be required. The successful candidate will need to be flexible with travel and capable of managing those trips as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Good mechanical awareness and the confidence to operate specialised equipment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
• A reliable, practical and customer-focused approach.
• Previous experience in the waste, industrial services or liquid-hazardous sector would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
