Qualifications

  • This role requires a current Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Experience driving larger vehicles, including buses, is preferred.
  • Strong focus on safety, reliability and professional service.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering laundry, food services, medical oxygen and general supplies in accordance with transport schedules.
  • Providing safe and respectful transport for patients, residents and clients between healthcare facilities, homes and community locations.
  • Transporting passengers using the wheelchair-accessible bus and following all relevant patient and restraint procedures.
  • Maintaining a current NZTA Passenger Endorsement.
  • Ensuring transport vehicles and the wheelchair bus are clean, safe and well maintained.
  • Cleaning the soiled linen trailer in accordance with infection prevention and control requirements.
  • Following all health and safety, infection prevention and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Participating in accreditation and quality improvement activities.

We are looking for a Driver to join our team, providing essential transport, deliveries and support services for patients, residents, staff and healthcare operations. This is a varied role where you will contribute to the smooth running of our services while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and infection prevention.

About the role

As a Driver, you will be responsible for a range of transport and support services, including delivery services, patient transport, wheelchair bus services and medical waste disposal.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering laundry, food services, medical oxygen and general supplies in accordance with transport schedules
  • Providing safe and respectful transport for patients, residents and clients between healthcare facilities, homes and community locations
  • Transporting passengers using the wheelchair-accessible bus and following all relevant patient and restraint procedures

About you

You will be a reliable, responsible and safety-focused driver who enjoys working with people and being part of a healthcare team.

You will have:

  • A current Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Experience driving larger vehicles, including buses
  • A friendly, caring and thoughtful manner
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong commitment to safety and providing a professional service
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
It would be an advantage if you have:
  • A Class 2 or higher New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Previous nursing or healthcare experience
  • Experience working in a healthcare or community environment
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, waste management or patient transport requirements
