Job summary

Petstock Hastings NZ is seeking a dedicated Dog Groomer to deliver full grooming services for a variety of breeds, ensuring high standards and customer satisfaction. You will coordinate with the Store Manager, manage bookings, and support both grooming and front-of-house operations in a busy salon environment.

The role emphasizes safety, quality grooming, and team collaboration, with a focus on maintaining brand standards and contributing to store targets. 40-hour week, hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in professional dog grooming required.
• Grooming qualification preferred.
• Ability to embed strong safety practices throughout the salon and store.
• Knowledge of breed-specific clipping and maintaining grooming styles.
• Physically fit to lift heavy animals as required.
• Experience handling live animals and maintaining zoonotic and skin-disease awareness.
• Proven ability to exceed grooming KPIs through high-quality care and customer satisfaction.
• Exceptional communication and rapport-building with customers and team.

Responsibilities

• Provide full grooming services for a variety of breeds (bathing, drying, clipping, brushing).
• Create a positive, memorable grooming experience for all clients and dogs.
• Coordinate the grooming salon with the Store Manager.
• Make client bookings and manage appointments effectively.
• Support the store floor team with exceptional customer service.
• Maintain a high standard of salon presentation and stock management.

• Experience in professional dog grooming

A Peek Into Your Petstock Day

• Provide full grooming services for a variety of breeds, including bathing, drying, nail clipping, brushing, combing and both generic and breed-specific clipping
• Provide a positive and memorable grooming experience for all customers and their dogs
• Coordinate the grooming salon and clients in conjunction with the Store Manager
• Make client bookings
• Assist store shop floor team when required, providing exceptional customer service where you and your customer will have memorable, meaningful interactions
• Maintain a consistently high standard of salon presentation and oversee stock management
• Work with the Store Manager and team to ensure member program targets and expectations are consistently met
• Proactively support local marketing opportunities and recruitment referral programs
• Work with the team to achieve and exceed sales targets
• Maintain a strong safety mindset with commitment to create a culture of safety within your team

Position: Dog Groomer

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours

Location: Hastings NZ

Salary Range: $25 - $30 PH (based on skills and experience)

Experience/Qualifications/Requirements: Salon experience and or certificate and references from grooming academy or course
