Job summary

HealthCare NZ invites applications for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in District Nursing based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. The role combines clinical leadership, coaching, and education to advance district nursing services within the region.

You will lead complex client management, support nurses with advanced clinical consultation, and drive workforce capability initiatives while fostering an inclusive, evidence-based practice environment.

Qualifications

Must be a Registered Nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
Postgraduate qualification and substantial experience in community health or primary care.
Strong knowledge of complex health conditions and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership, expert guidance, and support to District Nursing teams across the region.
Support nurses managing complex clients through advanced clinical consultation, joint visits, assessment, and decision-making.
Coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff through clinical supervision, education, and ongoing professional support.
Lead workforce capability initiatives, including education programmes, annual competency assessments, and professional development pathways.
Promote evidence-based practice and drive continuous quality improvement within District Nursing services.
Coordinate and assess clinical competencies, ensuring staff meet standards and compliance.
Build relationships with healthcare providers, education partners and stakeholders to strengthen service delivery and workforce growth.
