Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Northland is seeking a District Nurse for the Mid North area, based in Kawakawa, Kerikeri, Kaeo or Kaikohe. The role is permanent, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week) delivering contemporary nursing care in the community, at patients' homes, clinics or other suitable environments.

You will work independently within a multidisciplinary team, travel across the Mid North, and contribute to patient-centred, culturally safe care.

Qualifications

• Registration with Nursing Council and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Minimum one year post basic experience or recent primary health experience.
• Current Full NZ driver’s licence and proficient computing skills.
• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, te reo Māori or commitment to learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide community nursing care based on comprehensive assessment.

About the Role

As a District Nurse in the Mid North area, you will be part of our community clinical services working across the Mid North area. The primary functions of this role include working to meet the needs of patients and their family/whānau using contemporary nursing care, which is safe, appropriate and effective. The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive and evidence based.Click here to view the position description.Care will be provided in the community, either at the patients place of residence, community clinics, or other suitable environments as mutually agreed with the patient. About the Team/Service/Location

The Community Clinical Services in the Mid North area work across four locations based in Kawakawa, Kerikeri, Kaeo and Kaikohe, caring for patients and their whanau in the community. Our work can be challenging but is also very rewarding. Our purpose is to encourage and educate families and individuals towards wellness and self-reliance in health. You will work in partnership with clients to promote health, prevent disease, maintain wellness and provide nursing care to referred clients in the community. About you

As a District Nurse, you will be flexible, able to work independently and as part a multidisciplinary team. Good communication skills is a must, with the ability to build relationships across all age groups.
