Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for a Dispensing, Supply and Logistics Lead Pharmacist at Nelson Hospital. The Dispensing, Supply and Logistics Lead Pharmacist isresponsible for clinical management, oversight and the quality use of medicinesacross the dispensing, supply and logistics management pathway within Nelson Marlborough.
You will help to ensure that team members' practice aligns with best practice, key performance indicators are achieved, and a strong culture of quality improvement and teamwork is maintained
Bringing strong operational pharmacy knowledge, particularlyin supply and logistics, you will provide positive role modelling, clinicalexpertise and advice on medication-related matters to support safe andeffective patient care. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinaryteam to optimise patient care and promote the quality use of medicines.
A key part of the role is working closely with theMedication Safety & Education Lead Pharmacist to manage medication safetyissues arising from medicine shortages, new product reviews and replacementmedicines. You will also work alongside the Pharmacy Technician TeamCoordinator to support efficient day-to-day dispensary operations and theongoing development of technician staff.
This position involves working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm and occasional Saturday mornings between 9am to noon.
You will also participate in the on-call roster once established in the role. The on-call duties extend from Monday to Friday 4.30pm to 8am the following morning or Friday evening to Monday morning, with each pharmacist typically covering approximately one on-call slot per month. Travel to Wairau hospital to support the Wairau pharmacists is also required.
The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. The team functions in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes.
