Job summary

Access Community Health in Invercargill is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to assist a young man to live with independence, dignity, and choice. The role requires hands-on, person-centred care in the home and community.

Shifts include 3x90-min weekday slots starting at 3:30pm and one 4-hour Saturday shift. You should be intuitive, reliable, and able to work around study or family commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience with disabilities such as Autism, Intellectual disability, Down syndrome, or Cerebral Palsy.
• Ability to support learning of daily living skills and independence.
• Willingness to travel; travel costs reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, person-centred support in clients' homes and communities.
• Assist with after-school activities, appointments, and social engagement.
• Mentor in day-to-day life skills such as meal preparation and cleaning up.
• Maintain accur ate documentation and communicate effectively.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and empowering environment.

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and active person - experienced with disabilities such as Autism, Intellectual, Downs Syndrome, or Cerebral Palsy. In this role, you will support one young man to learn to live with independence, dignity, and choice.

Hours

Weekdays: 3 x 90-minute shifts starting at 3:30pm

Weekends: 1 x 4-hour Saturday shift

You will provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries. Every day is different, and your work will genuinely make a positive impact on our client’s life.
