Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Engage Recruitment Support – Taupo, North Island

We’re working with a Taupō-based organisation looking for an experienced Digital Platforms & Security Lead who can combine strong technical judgement with people leadership and big-picture thinking.

This is a hands‑on leadership role spanning technology platforms, operational cybersecurity, resilience, technical risk and key supplier relationships. You’ll lead specialist capability across platforms, workplace technology and cybersecurity, setting priorities, developing your people and providing technical direction and escalation support.

A key part of the opportunity is translating broader digital strategy into a practical longer‑term technical roadmap. You’ll help drive the phased transition toward greater use of cloud, SaaS and Zero Trust technologies, while reducing reliance on legacy on‑premises infrastructure.

Alongside this change, the fundamentals still matter. You’ll help ensure the technology environment remains secure, reliable and resilient, with strong operational security controls, incident response and disaster recovery capability aligned with wider business continuity requirements.

You’ll also work across the organisation, building relationships with technical and non‑technical stakeholders and helping connect business needs with technology priorities, risk and improvement opportunities.

The role balances day‑to‑day operational responsibility with ongoing modernisation and improvement, keeping critical technology running while continuing to look at how platforms, processes and ways of working can evolve.

What you’ll be doing

Leading and developing specialist capability across platforms, workplace technology and cybersecurity

Translating broader digital strategy into practical technical priorities and a longer‑term roadmap

Driving the phased transition toward cloud, SaaS and Zero Trust technologies

Reducing reliance on legacy on‑premises infrastructure while maintaining reliable operational delivery

Providing technical leadership across infrastructure, platforms and security

Managing cybersecurity controls, operational compliance and incident response, while surfacing key technical risks

Strengthening disaster recovery and system resilience in support of wider business continuity objectives

Acting as an escalation point for complex platform and security issues

Managing key technology suppliers, service performance and improvement activity

Identifying opportunities to improve operational delivery through automation, AI and other technologies

Building strong relationships across the organisation and supporting effective technology change

What we’re looking for

We’re interested in experienced technology leaders who can operate comfortably across both the detail and the bigger picture.

You’ll ideally bring:

Substantial experience across cybersecurity or IT operations, with demonstrated team leadership or supervisory experience

Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance standards and IT operations best practice, including ISO 27001

Experience with cloud infrastructure, security tools and IT service management processes

Strong understanding of incident management, change control and vulnerability management

Experience working with Agile and DevOps practices

Strong people leadership, with the ability to guide, coach and develop technical specialists

The ability to turn technology direction into practical priorities, roadmaps and delivery

Experience managing technology suppliers or external service partners

Strong relationship‑management and communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Sound judgement, strong problem‑solving capability and the ability to manage multiple priorities

A continuous‑improvement mindset and the ability to work constructively through change

A tertiary qualification in information technology or a related discipline

Relevant certifications across information security, ITIL 4, Check Point, Azure/AWS architecture, FinOps or DevOps would be advantageous.

What’s on offer?

This is an opportunity to combine hands‑on technology leadership with genuine scope to influence how the technology environment develops over time.

You’ll also be joining an organisation that offers:

Flexible, family‑friendly working

Wellbeing support and employee benefits

Career development and growth opportunities

A strong focus on supporting people to develop their strengths
