Job summary

Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake is seeking a Cloud Engineer to build and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Operations, you will perform hands-on cloud engineering and provide technical support across platforms, driving improvements and automation.

You will bring 1–3 years in IT or cloud work with Azure/M365 exposure, plus scripting interest. The role offers a hybrid work setup and opportunities for professional development and wellbeing

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in IT support, systems or cloud engineering with Azure and/or Microsoft 365 exposure.
  • Hands-on configuring and supporting Azure and/or M365 services.
  • Familiar with Windows OS, Intune device management and end-user IT workflows.
  • Good problem solving and clear communication; able to escalate when needed.
  • Interest in automation and scripting with PowerShell, Python or Bash.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure and maintain services across Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
  • Support M365 workloads, end-user devices and Windows operating systems.
  • Resolve cloud incidents and requests; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Deliver documented and tested change and release activities.

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to help build, configure and maintain our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Operations, you will undertake hands‑on cloud engineering and provide technical support across a range of platforms and services. You will help maintain reliable and well‑managed cloud environments, contribute to improvements and automation, and work with internal teams and external providers to resolve issues and deliver changes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build, configure and maintain services across our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
  • Support Microsoft 365 workloads, end‑user devices and Windows operating systems.
  • Resolve cloud platform incidents and requests, escalating more complex issues when required.
  • Deliver documented and tested change and release activities.
  • Contribute to cloud automation, monitoring and Infrastructure as Code activities.
  • Apply security controls, maintain technical documentation and support compliance requirements.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in IT support, systems or cloud engineering, with exposure to Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft 365, or a strong foundation developed through study.
  • Practical skills in configuring and supporting Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft 365 services.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 workloads, Windows operating systems and device management using Intune.
  • Good problem‑solving and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters clearly and recognise when an issue needs to be escalated.
  • An interest in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python or Bash, with a willingness to develop your knowledge of Infrastructure as Code.
  • A collaborative and curious approach, with a commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
