Digital Stream seeks a Digital Marketing Assistant to join our Hamilton team. The role offers hands‑on experience across SEO, content, campaigns and analytics while you learn from seasoned marketers. Ideal for a recent graduate or those with 1–2 years in marketing.
You’ll contribute to content, SEO, email marketing and digital advertising, while developing skills in Canva, Photoshop, WordPress and analytics tools. A strong writing background and curiosity are essential.

Digital Stream is looking for a Digital Marketing Assistant to join our growing team in Hamilton.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent marketing or communications graduate, or someone with 1–2 years' experience, who wants to build a broad and highly practical career in digital marketing.
Founded in 1999, Digital Stream is an established full-service digital marketing agency working with businesses throughout New Zealand and Australia.
You’ll work alongside experienced digital marketers and gain hands‑on exposure across:
SEO and Local SEO
Google Ads
Facebook and Instagram advertising
Organic social media
Email marketing
Content marketing
Website and landing page marketing
Analytics and reporting
AI and emerging marketing technology
You’ll be involved in real client campaigns from the beginning, while receiving the training, support and resources you need to develop your skills.
If you also have an eye for design and are comfortable using Canva, Photoshop or similar tools, that’s a definite bonus.
We’re looking for someone who is bright, curious and eager to learn.
You don’t need to know everything about digital marketing already. What matters to us is that you have a strong foundation, a great attitude and the motivation to become exceptionally good at what you do.

This is a varied role supporting our digital marketing team across a wide range of client accounts, campaigns and projects.
No two days will be exactly the same.
You’ll help brainstorm, research and write creative short and long‑form content for SEO, social media, websites, advertising, email and video.
This may include:
Developing ideas and angles for blogs, articles and press releases
Writing engaging organic social media posts
Writing direct‑response copy for Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram advertising
Creating educational and promotional email newsletters
Assisting with automated email sequences
Writing and editing landing page and website content
Researching industries, competitors, audiences and topics
Using AI tools to help research, develop and refine ideas while maintaining quality and accuracy
You’ll support our SEO team with activities such as:
Keyword and competitor research
On‑page SEO
Website content optimisation
Local SEO
Google Business Profile optimisation
Content research and planning
SEO reporting and analysis
Identifying opportunities to improve search visibility
You’ll assist our team with Google Ads and social media advertising, including:
Campaign research
Audience research
Competitor analysis
Ad copy and creative ideas
Campaign setup and administration
Reporting and performance analysis
Helping identify opportunities to improve campaign results
You’ll assist with:
Organic social media content
Social media scheduling
Email newsletters
Email marketing campaigns
Content calendars
Campaign reporting
Creative ideas and promotional campaigns
As part of the role, you’ll also help keep campaigns and client work organised.
This may include:
Preparing reports
Updating campaign information
Checking websites and marketing assets
Gathering information and research
Updating project and task management systems
Proofreading and quality checking work
General digital marketing administration
Attention to detail matters. Our clients trust us with their businesses and brands, so we’re looking for someone who takes pride in getting things right.
Ideally, you’ll have:
A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Media or a related field
Strong academic results
Up to 1–2 years of marketing or digital marketing experience — although outstanding graduates are encouraged to apply
Excellent written communication, spelling and grammar
Strong research and analytical skills
Confidence communicating with a wide range of people
Good organisational and time‑management skills
A strong work ethic, drive and desire to succeed
An interest in digital marketing, technology and AI
Excellent references
