Job description

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

Your Role:

Love turning great stories into engaging content? Enjoy creating social media, video and communications that connect with people? Join LIC as a Digital Communications Advisor and help bring to life the stories, innovation and expertise that support New Zealand dairy farmers every day.

You’ll be part of our Customer Experience team within NZ Markets, reporting to the Communications Lead. NZ Markets is the primary channel to our customers and the voice of the farmer within LIC. We work closely with teams across the business to understand customer needs, deliver value, and ensure farmer insights help shape business priorities and investment decisions.

As the Digital Communications Advisor, you'll work alongside the Communications Lead and Senior Communications Advisor to deliver engaging internal and external communications that strengthen our brand, support our people, and keep our farmer shareholders informed and connected. From social media and video content to employee and external communications, you'll help tell the LIC story across a wide range of channels.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. One day you could be filming content on-farm, the next writing a shareholder update, creating social media campaigns, supporting an internal initiative, or helping deliver a company-wide communications project.

Your Key Focus:
  • Execution of Communication Strategy: Support the delivery of internal and external communication strategies that align with LIC's business objectives and strengthen engagement with key audiences.

  • Social Media Management: Help deliver LIC's social media presence by planning, creating and publishing engaging content, supporting campaigns, monitoring performance, and identifying new opportunities to connect with audiences.

  • Video Content Creation: Plan, film and edit compelling video content that showcases LIC's people, customers, products and expertise across digital channels and internal events.

  • Internal Communication: Partner with teams across the business to develop communications that keep employees informed, engaged and connected. Provide advice on communication approaches and support the delivery of key projects and initiatives.

  • External Communication: Create engaging content that places our farmer shareholders at the centre of everything we do, including media releases, website content, publications, social media and shareholder communications.

  • Content Creation: Develop clear, compelling and audience-focused content across multiple channels while ensuring consistency with LIC's brand and tone of voice.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders to support effective communication outcomes.

  • Support to Communications Lead and Senior Communications Advisor: Provide practical support across strategic communications, earned media activity, shareholder communications and business-wide initiatives.

Your Key Skills and Experience:
  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.

  • At least three years' experience in a communications, public relations, media or content-focused role.

  • Exceptional written communication skills with strong attention to detail, spelling and grammar.

  • Experience creating content for digital and social media channels.

  • Video filming and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging visual content.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and building effective relationships.

  • A proactive, positive approach and the ability to take ownership of your work.

In Return:

In addition to a competitive salary, you'll receive some great benefits including:

  • Extra leave days

  • Flexible working options

  • Discounted health, life, income and disability insurances

  • Access to our employee shares scheme

  • Wellbeing discounts

  • Free onsite parking and free EV chargers for our LIC staff to use

  • Our Hamilton office is located in a park-like setting, with tennis court, pool, and onsite café and social club!
