Job description

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

Your Role:

Are you a quality leader who enjoys turning standards and systems into practical improvements that make a real difference??

As Diagnostics Quality Manager, you’ll lead the quality function across LIC Diagnostics, providing oversight of our Quality Management System and ensuring we continue to meet our accreditation and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Diagnostics Manager, this is an influential role with the opportunity to shape how quality is understood, owned and continually improved across our Diagnostics operations.

You’ll work closely with the Diagnostics Leadership Team and operational teams, combining your quality expertise with strong influencing and relationship-building skills. You’ll help our people identify and manage quality risk, strengthen performance and build a culture where continuous improvement and operational ownership of quality are part of how we work every day.

If you enjoy getting beyond compliance to make quality a genuine driver of operational excellence, this is an opportunity to have significant impact.

Your Key Focus:

Lead Quality Systems & Compliance – Lead and continually improve the Diagnostics QMS, including audit programmes, quality reporting and risk, while maintaining IANZ accreditation and applicable ISO/IEC 17025 and regulatory requirements.

Champion Continuous Improvement & Quality Ownership – Use quality trends and insights to drive improvement, reduce quality failures and strengthen performance, while building capability and ownership of quality across Diagnostics.

Provide Trusted Quality Leadership – Partner with Diagnostics leaders and wider operational teams to provide practical quality advice, influence decision-making and ensure quality considerations are embedded in operational and technical change.

Your Key Skills & Experience:
  • Relevant Qualification - A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant science, quality, or related discipline is preferred.

  • Quality Leadership Experience - At least three years' experience in a quality, compliance, or risk-focused role within a regulated environment, supported by a strong understanding of ISO-based quality systems.

  • Technical Quality Expertise - Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems, auditing, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and document control processes.

  • Strong Influencing & Communication Skills - The ability to build credibility, influence stakeholders at all levels, and translate regulatory requirements into practical operational outcomes.

  • Continuous Improvement Mindset - Proven success in identifying improvement opportunities, implementing sustainable solutions, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

  • Experience within an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory or similar laboratory environment would be highly advantageous.

In Return:

In addition to a competitive salary, you'll receive some great benefits including:

  • Extra leave days

  • Flexible working options

  • Discounted health, life, income and disability insurances

  • Access to our employee shares scheme

  • Wellbeing discounts

  • Free onsite parking

If you thrive on driving improvement, influencing positive change, and partnering with talented people to achieve exceptional outcomes, we'd love to hear from you. Join LIC and help lead the quality standards that support our customers, our people, and New Zealand's dairy industry.
