Whangarei Marine Services is seeking a trade-qualified diesel mechanic to support our expanding marine service team. You will be based at our central Whangarei workshop but spend a large portion of time working from service vans on-site with customers.
Experience with marine engines is preferred; training will be provided for non-marine backgrounds. A tidy, presentable worker with good communication skills is essential.

The marine industry in Whangarei is booming, with new marinas being built and more offshore yachties coming for annual maintenance than ever before. Hence, we are expanding and looking to take on an additional diesel mechanics.
As Whangarei's authorised dealer for Volvo Penta and Yanmar marine products, we sell and install new engines, and also service and repair a wide range of mechanical marine equipment.
The person we are looking for will need to be trade qualified (diesel mechanics). Prior experience with marine engines, stern legs and sail drives is preferred, however training will be provided if you are from a non-marine background - you just need the drive and ability to learn new skills.
All of ourstaff deal directly with customers, so you must be a tidy worker, be presentable and have good communication skills. You will be based at our workshop in central Whangarei but spend a high percentage of time out on-site, working from one of our service vans. You will need the ability to trace faults and come up with solutions in the field.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Salary will be dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience.
