Transitlounge Recruitment is seeking a Design Engineer - Electricity Distribution for a NZ client. You will design and deliver distribution network projects, from customer connections to upgrades, with hands-on site involvement.

The role requires 5–10 years in electricity distribution, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and strong design and project delivery skills. Location is Bay of Plenty with flexible options and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

Design Engineer - Electricity Distribution

Ready to put your distribution network experience to work? Our client is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team and play a key role in designing and delivering electricity distribution network projects. This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who understands how distribution networks operate in the real world, from customer connections and capacity upgrades through to detailed network design, estimation and project delivery.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll work across a diverse range of distribution network projects, including:

• Designing and estimating new customer connections, subdivisions and network upgrades
• Providing engineering and site planning services for overhead and underground networks
• Preparing detailed designs, work packs, construction plans and engineering calculations
• Managing projects from initial concept through to completion, including budgets, timeframes and close-out
• Coordinating contractors, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Undertaking quality, safety and construction audits
• Coordinating project and defect works
• Supporting asset management planning and network performance reporting
• Identifying opportunities to improve quality of supply, public safety, efficiency and value for customers

What we are looking for:

• 5–10 years’ experience in the electricity distribution industry
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification
• Strong experience in distribution network design, particularly overhead networks
• Knowledge of underground network design and cost estimating
• Experience managing contractors and delivering projects
• Understanding of contract administration from conception through to completion
• The ability to complete engineering design calculations and ensure compliant, fit-for-purpose network assets
• Strong commercial awareness, planning and organisational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
