Job summary

Anura Limited seeks a motivated Design Engineer to join our engineering team in New Zealand. You will contribute to amphibious product development from concept to production, integrating mechanical, electrical and software-enabled systems and ensuring designs are practical for manufacture and service.

You will work with senior engineers, prototyping, testing and continuous improvement, with opportunities to influence product design and manufacturing processes across multidisciplinary systems.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years' experience in mechanical design, product development, mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong 3D CAD capability with SolidWorks and working with PDM.
  • Hands-on engineering capability with a practical approach to development and testing.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary systems involving mechanical, electrical and software components.
  • Experience producing and maintaining engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications and work instructions.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience within marine, automotive, heavy equipment, robotics or advanced manufacturing industries would be highly regarded, as would experience working with hydraulics.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development projects from concept through to production release, designing and developing components, assemblies and systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Produce detailed CAD models, technical drawings and engineering documentation to support product development and manufacture.
  • Support the development and integration of electronic, electrical and software-enabled components and systems, working with senior engineers and specialist suppliers as required.
  • Undertake research into emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application within Anura products.
  • Design and develop production jigs, fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support the development of prototypes and contribute to testing, validation and performance analysis.
  • Work closely with production and service teams to ensure designs are practical to manufacture, assemble, install, maintain and service.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to product designs, manufacturing processes and engineering practices.
  • Develop and maintain CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), data sheets, work instructions and other manufacturing and engineering documentation.
  • Contribute to investigations of design or product issues, including gathering information, undertaking analysis and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.

Job description

Anura is seeking a motivated and capable Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

This role will support the development, improvement and manufacture of Anura's amphibious products and systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role contributes to product development from early concepts through to production, with a focus on practical, manufacturable and reliable engineering solutions.

While the role includes traditional mechanical design responsibilities, it is equally focused on the integration of electronic, electrical and software-enabled systems. The role provides an opportunity to develop strong product development and design engineering capability across mechanical and mechatronic systems, while gaining experience in prototyping, testing, manufacturing and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, production and service teams to turn engineering concepts into high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

Skills & Experience
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline

  • 3-5 years' experience in mechanical design, product development, mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.

  • Strong 3D CAD capability and technical drawing experience, with proficiency in Solidworks and working with PDM

  • Hands-on engineering capability with a practical approach to development and testing

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary systems involving mechanical, electrical and software components

  • Experience producing and maintaining engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications and work instructions.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
