Job summary

Anura Limited in New Zealand seeks a motivated engineering student or recent graduate for a 10-week internship. You will assist with CAD work, engineering documentation, research, prototype assembly and data collection under the Design Engineers.

You will also help maintain engineering docs and work instructions for the R&D team. Ideal candidates are pursuing Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering, possess Solidworks familiarity, and can document calculations and test results clearly.

Qualifications

  • Currently studying at a NZ tertiary institution toward a Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related degree.
  • Alternatively, you must have completed those studies within the last 12 months.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Design Engineers with CAD modelling and preparation of technical drawings.
  • Support the documentation management for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems.
  • Conduct defined research tasks related to components, materials, technologies and engineering solutions, summarising findings for the R&D team.
  • Document engineering calculations, analysis and evaluations to support design activities.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, modification and testing under the guidance of engineers.
  • Document test procedures and perform prototype/product testing.
  • Collect, organise and analyse test data relating to product and system performance.
  • Investigate technical issues from testing, production or feedback and help evaluate solutions.
  • Maintain clear and accurate engineering documentation in line with Anura processes.
  • Provide practical engineering support to the Design Engineers and R&D team.

The Opportunity

Anura is seeking a motivated engineering student or recent graduate to undertake an internship with us for 10 weeks.

Working under the guidance of Anura’s Design Engineers, the Intern will assist with CAD work, engineering documentation, research, prototype assembly, testing and data collection. The role is intended to provide exposure to real-world product development while contributing useful technical and documentation support to the R&D team.

The Intern will also assist with maintaining and developing engineering documentation, including drawings, spare parts information and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Design Engineers with CAD modelling and preparation of technical drawings.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of documentation relating to mechanical, electrical and integrated engineering systems.
  • Undertake defined research tasks relating to components, materials, technologies and engineering solutions, and summarise findings for the R&D team.
  • Document engineering calculations, analysis and component evaluations to support design and development activities.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, modification and preparation under the guidance of the engineering team.
  • Assist with documenting test procedures and carrying out prototype and product testing.
  • Collect, organise and analyse test data relating to product and system performance.
  • Assist with investigating technical issues identified through testing, production or service feedback and support the R&D team in evaluating potential solutions.
  • Document engineering findings, test results, design changes and development iterations.Ensure documentation is clear, accurate and maintained in accordance with Anura’s engineering processes.
  • Provide practical engineering support to Design Engineers and other members of the R&D team as required.
To quality for this internship, you must:

Be currently studying at a New Zealand tertiary education institute towards a degree or equivalent qualification (NZQA level 6-10) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline. Alternatively, you must have completed those studies less than 12 months ago.

Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.

You will have:
  • Basic competency with CAD software (Solidworks preferred) and engineering drawings.
  • A sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles relevant to your field of study.
  • The ability to record calculations, technical information and test results clearly and accurately.
  • Basic data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, being comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance when required.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work respectfully and collaboratively as part of a team.
