Job summary

Nayland College in Nelson seeks an accomplished teacher and proven leader to join our senior leadership team as deputy principal. This role combines pastoral leadership, school operations, curriculum, and teaching and learning within a busy coeducational setting of ~1,300 students.

• Capability to lead improvement in pastoral practice, curriculum and teaching and learning.
• Solid understanding of curriculum change management.
• Commitment to innovative and responsive approaches to education.
• Collaborative work style with a focus on keeping students at the centre.

• Provide pastoral leadership and manage school operations.

Nayland College is seeking an accomplished teacher and proven leader to join our senior leadership team as deputy principal.

This is a varied role encompassing pastoral leadership, school operations, curriculum, and teaching and learning. We are looking for a well-rounded and highly organised leader who can manage competing priorities, make sound decisions, and support staff and students in a busy coeducational school of approximately 1,300 students.

The successful applicant will be a strong advocate for relationship-based learning (RBL) and restorative practice. They will understand that strong relationships, high quality teaching and clear expectations work together. They will bring warmth and care to their interactions, address challenges constructively, and help others grow in their practice.
