Job summary

Ritchies Transport in Whangārei requires an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Whangārei Depot, directing daily transport operations, safety, scheduling and staff development. You will manage a large, diverse workforce and a substantial vehicle fleet to deliver safe, reliable and efficient services.

The role demands a hands-on leader who can coordinate across shifts, respond to issues beyond standard hours, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining high safety and service

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in large operational teams.
• Experience in transport/logistics or related industries.
• Excellent communication with staff at all levels.
• Strong planning, organisational and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a 150+ team across multiple workgroups.
• Oversee a fleet of 170+ vehicles to maximise efficiency and reliability.
• Drive operational performance and service delivery outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
• Manage staffing, rostering and resource planning.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
