Job summary

Crowne Plaza Christchurch is seeking a Demi Chef to join our busy hotel kitchen. You’ll assist the executive chef and the kitchen team in preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to Crowne Plaza Christchurch standards, while contributing to a positive, professional kitchen environment.

You’ll maintain high food quality using approved recipes and photos, uphold HACCP hygiene, manage stock levels, and work across breakfast or dinner shifts as required by business needs.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Chef.
• Diploma and/or Vocational Certificate in Culinary Skills or related field.
• Knowledge of a la carte and banquet service with modern and classical cooking techniques.
• Problem solving, reasoning and training abilities.
• Ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the executive chef and the kitchen team in preparing, cooking and serving dishes to Crowne Plaza Christchurch standard.
• Responsible for food quality using recipes and photo’s that are provided.
• Maintaining a hygienic kitchen and ensuring standard operational procedures are to HACCP standards and update reports daily.
• Maintaining correct levels of stock, ensuring correct quantity of food is produced.
• Scheduled to cover either the breakfast shift or the dinner shift, depending on business needs.
