Job summary

Gallagher in Hamilton, New Zealand is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team on a permanent day shift (7:00am–4:00pm, Mon–Fri). You will analyse and optimise manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement, and support NPI to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.

The role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, safety, and performance by collaborating with production, maintenance, and quality teams, while developing SOPs and training materials.

Qualifications

• NZQA qualification, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering field.
• Proven experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment (regulated experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems like Surface Mount Technology, Selective Soldering and Conformal Coating.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Analyse manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
• Develop and implement process optimisation strategies to improve productivity and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies.
• Lead and contribute to cross-functional problem-solving.
• Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Support equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical support to resolve equipment and process-related issues.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
• Train and support production teams on new processes, equipment use, and safety protocols.
