Job summary

Gallagher in Hamilton, New Zealand is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team on a permanent day shift (7:00am–4:00pm, Mon–Fri). You will analyse and optimise manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement, and support NPI to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.

The role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, safety, and performance by collaborating with production, maintenance, and quality teams, while developing SOPs and training materials.

Qualifications

• NZQA qualification, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering field.
• Proven experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment (regulated experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems like Surface Mount Technology, Selective Soldering and Conformal Coating.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies.

• Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Support equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical support to resolve equipment and process-related issues.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
• Train and support production teams on new processes, equipment use, and safety protocols.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering function in Hamilton on a permanent day shift, working 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead, this role is responsible for optimising manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and performance standards are consistently met. You'll analyze existing processes, implement improvements, and support both ongoing production and new product introductions.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys working independently, driving continuous improvement while partnering closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams.

You Will
