Job summary

Jora New Zealand in Wellington is seeking an experienced Data Consultant to lead end-to-end data solutions using Databricks, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric. This is a permanent, hybrid role with 3 days in the office.

You will design pipelines, mentor engineers, and work with client stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable architectures. Strong SQL/Python skills and 8+ years of experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years delivering enterprise-scale data platforms and data warehouse solutions.
• 3+ years hands-on Databricks experience preferred.
• Strong SQL and Python skills; advanced data modelling.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver reliable data pipelines across Lakehouse environments.
• Build data solutions using Databricks, Delta Live Tables, Lakeflow, SQL, and Python.
• Apply modern data modelling and Medallion Architecture principles.
• Implement testing, monitoring, data quality, and performance optimisation practices.
• Lead discovery sessions and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with architects and delivery teams to shape solution design and delivery.
• Mentor engineers, conduct peer reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
