Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Senior Data Engineer – Azure Databricks to own and evolve a production Azure Databricks lakehouse in Auckland. You will extend capabilities, enforce governance, and scale the data platform while guiding a small team of Data Engineers.

The role requires strong Azure Databricks experience with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog, plus SQL and Python proficiency. You will partner with analytics, BI and business stakeholders in a hybrid Auckland setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive production experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake architecture.
• Strong SQL and Python capabilities for data engineering tasks.
• Experience leading and mentoring a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead evolution of Azure Databricks lakehouse with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python.
• Strengthen CI/CD, IaC, and DevOps practices across the platform.
• Enhance data governance, quality, lineage and access controls.
• Mentor Data Engineers and align work with analytics and BI teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data needs into solutions.
