Job summary

Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake is seeking an experienced Data Product Owner to lead development and enhancement of data products. The role focuses on translating business needs into concrete data solutions, ensuring quality, governance, and trust across data from insurers and partners.

You will work cross-functionally with business and technical teams and report to the Head of Data Systems. In return, the role offers a competitive salary, 5 weeks annual leave, a professional development

Qualifications

Five or more years in a similar data-focused role.
Translate business needs and partner challenges into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.
Strong data product management skills with roadmaps and backlog management.
Experience resolving complex data and technical issues.
Proven governance and stewardship practices for data quality.

Responsibilities

Manage and improve NHC’s data products, including data from insurers and partners.
Work with data lifecycle from analysis to documentation, testing and quality checks.
Shape product roadmaps and priorities from business and partner needs.
Combine business and technical expertise to resolve complex data issues.
Lead initiatives strengthening data quality, governance, stewardship and accountability.
Build relationships with internal stakeholders, insurers, providers and partners.
Identify and progress responsible AI opportunities to improve data products and outcomes.
