Job summary

Sky New Zealand is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead Sky’s Data Engineering capability, setting direction, governance, standards and frameworks for secure, scalable data products and platforms.

As people leader and SME, you’ll coach engineers, shape the operating model, and partner with Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, Product and Security to deliver trusted data for analytics and reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading inclusive, high-performing data engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in enterprise data platforms, governance and data quality.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to translate strategy into delivery.
• Hands-on knowledge of modern data tooling and cloud platforms.
• Experience partnering with BI, analytics and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead an inclusive, high-performing Data Engineering team with clear priorities and accountability.
• Shape the operating model and allocate capability to deliver high-value priorities.
• Act as SME and authority for enterprise data engineering, guiding design and platform choices.
• Set governance, standards, guardrails for security, privacy, quality and cost.
• Establish CI/CD, observability, deployment, documentation and incident management practices.
• Drive scalable, secure data platforms and pipelines with reliability and cost control.
• Partner with Analytics Engineering and BI to deliver trusted data products for analytics.
• Build relationships with Product, Technology, Architecture, Security and business stakeholders.
