Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Data Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term position to ensure data quality and availability for financial crime platforms. You will design and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes and data assets supporting Transaction Monitoring, CRA, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting.

Collaborate with AML Analytics, engineers and vendors to deliver reliable data solutions, while managing incidents and supporting production environments.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with data modelling and ETL/ELT development.
• Knowledge of batch processing and data quality management.
• Experience with data reconciliation and root cause analysis.
• Exposure to incident management and production support.
• Experience working in financial services or complex enterprise data environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data assets underpinning financial crime controls.
• Collaborate with AML Analytics, Engineers, Analysts and Vendors to ensure data reliability and availability.
• Support regulatory reporting and audit remediation activities.
