Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines for regulatory reporting across FATCA, CRS and PTR. You will ensure data is delivered on time, traceable and audit-ready.

You will work with Python, PySpark, SQL and AWS data services in a cloud-based environment, shaping end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines across complex enterprise data ecosystems. This role offers a supportive team, opportunities for growth and a strong focus on data quality

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Data Engineer on modern cloud data platforms.
Strong hands-on experience with Python and PySpark for data transformation and pipeline development.
Experience with Scala (preferred for Spark) within distributed data environments.
Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, reconciliation and validation.
Experience designing end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines across complex enterprise ecosystems.
Experience with AWS data services (Glue, S3, RDS/Aurora, DataSync).
Experience with DIP for upstream data ingestion and regulatory pipelines.
Familiarity with CloudBees (Jenkins-based CI/CD) for deployment and release management.

Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines for regulatory reporting.
Ensure data is delivered on time, traceable and audit-ready.
Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders across FATCA, CRS and PTR programs.
Tune performance and monitor batch processing and orchestration.
