Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Financial Services team. You will design and optimise the Corporate Data Platform, turning diverse data into trusted information products for informed decision-making across the organisation.

The role focuses on building data pipelines and information products using Snowflake, dbt, AWS, and GitHub, with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining data platform services in a cloud environment.
• Strong SQL, Python and scripting skills (Bash/PowerShell).
• Knowledge of data architectures: data warehousing, data lakes/lakehouses, data integration and ETL/ELT.
• Familiarity with dbt, Snowflake, GitHub, AWS and Alation is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver data pipelines and information products across ingestion, transformation and presentation.
• Develop robust, secure and scalable data solutions for trusted information and decision making.
• Contribute to governance, architecture discussions and data engineering standards.
