Marketview in Wellington is seeking a Data Analyst with 3-5 years' experience to deliver market insights for a major retail client. You will blend technical data skills with consulting, translating transaction data into clear insights, from detailed reporting to executive summaries.

Based in Wellington, you will own end-to-end analytics, write SQL, develop scripts in R or Python, and present outputs to senior leadership, while growing into more client-relational responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in data analytics or insights roles.
• Strong SQL skills (critical to success in this role).
• Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to build clear presentations in PowerPoint.
• Comfortable working independently and managing workload.
• Experience with BI or analytics platforms.
• Background in consumer insights, market research, or retail analytics.

Responsibilities

• Support regular market insights, performance reporting, and trend analysis for a key client.
• Write efficient SQL to extract, transform, and analyse large datasets.
• Develop analytical scripts in R or Python to solve problems and uncover patterns.
• Translate data into clear outputs for senior leadership or operational teams.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within the data.
• Collaborate with senior team members to support client presentations and strategic recommendations.
• Grow into owning pieces of the client relationship as you develop in the role.
