Job summary

Optimal is seeking a Data Analyst to own our data infrastructure and empower the business with data-driven decisions. You’ll turn raw data into practical insights and shape how data is used across teams, including understanding customer behavior and identifying opportunities.

This remote-first role combines hands-on analysis with maintaining our data environment, ensuring reliable data and clear visibility into performance for fast, informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a BI, data analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills and confidence working with relational databases.
  • Experience with BI / dashboard tools (Holistics, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase).
  • Understanding of data pipelines / ETL processes.
  • Basic data engineering skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouse environments (Snowflake a plus).
  • Proactive, curious, and strong communicator who can translate data for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience using AI tools to speed up analysis and uncover insights.

We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our team.

The role

We're looking for a Data Analyst to own our data infrastructure and support the business in making informed decisions. Someone who is naturally curious and loves turning data into real, practical insights.

This is the chance to work for a growing NZ based technology business and shape the way data is used within the business. You'll help us understand how customers use our product and where the opportunities are. You'll support the business by using data to answer questions, uncover insights, and guide decision-making, making data easier to work with every day.

What you'll do:
