Hamilton City Council is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to drive secure-by-design practices within an agile Digital Services Team. You will balance operational, tactical, and strategic work to delivery cyber initiatives, respond to incidents, and manage risk while shaping security standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant certifications like CISSP, CISM, CEH, ISO Auditor, or GIAC are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices and tools.
• Experience with cyber security defense across People, Process and Technology.
• Familiarity with security frameworks.
• Ability to perform security assessments and vulnerability analysis.
• Understanding of cloud security and virtualization technologies.
• Hands-on experience with security tools.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
• Experience in implementing and maintaining security controls.
• Proven track record of identifying and mitigating security risks.
• Able to champion our Cyber and Risk Function within Digital Services and across the organisation.
• Able to handle the pressure of multiple deadlines.
• Value the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Work in agile ways in both the Cyber team and cross functionally with other teams.

Responsibilities

• Support our cyber roadmap with a mix of operational and strategic activities.
• Help deliver initiatives, handle cybersecurity incidents and risk management.
• Influence the cyber strategy and implement cyber security standards.
• Manage systems administration within the Cyber team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Cloud, Network, and Service Desk teams.
• Lift the cybersecurity posture across multiple business units and infrastructure.
