Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join our Security Operations Team. You will monitor security events, investigate incidents, and support continual improvement of detection capabilities across networks and cloud.

With 3+ years in security operations, you bring strong incident response skills and a proactive mindset. You’ll collaborate with IT and engineering and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in security operations, incident response, or adjacent domains.
• Good foundational knowledge in security, web technologies, networking and cloud.
• Investigative mindset with strong attention to anomalies and root causes.
• Experience with security incident response and operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events to detect, triage and respond to threats.
• Investigate and analyse incidents through containment, eradication and recovery.
• Support day-to-day security monitoring and detection capabilities.
• Tune detection rules and use cases to improve alert quality.
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams on incident response and controls.
• Contribute to threat hunting and SOC process automation.
• Follow standard processes for incidents, changes and documentation.
• Participate in on-call support roster.
