Job summary

New Zealand Defence Force is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to help deliver and sustain secure infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will work with cyber specialists to apply hardening, monitor performance, and support lifecycle management of platforms across NZDF’s digital services.

The role requires collaboration across multiple technical disciplines, travel to support operations, and potential on‑call duties as needs evolve.

Qualifications

Experience supporting infrastructure within complex enterprise environments.
Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as VMware, Windows Server, Linux and Azure.
Understanding of cyber security principles and compliance frameworks.
Experience with automation tools and infrastructure management practices.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Exposure to agile delivery environments desirable.
Relevant infrastructure certifications or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Implementing and maintaining secure infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
Monitoring and supporting infrastructure performance, resilience and availability.
Collaborating with cyber specialists to apply security hardening and compliance measures.
Supporting the configuration, integration and lifecycle management of infrastructure platforms.
Contributing to technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
