Job summary

JobSpace in Tokoroa is seeking a reliable Retail Sales Assistant to join our busy dairy shop. You will deliver friendly customer service, operate the POS, handle payments, restock shelves, and support day-to-day store operations as part of a small team.

The role requires basic numeracy, attention to stock dates, and the ability to work a minimum 30 hours per week with shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Training and a stable local role are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail, customer service or a similar role.
• Basic numeracy and the ability to accurately handle cash and electronic payments.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
• Good attention to detail, particularly when handling stock and checking product dates.
• The ability to follow workplace procedures and instructions.
• The ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly and efficient customer service.
• Operate the POS system and process cash, EFTPOS and other payments accurately.
• Receive, check and unpack deliveries.
• Replenish and rotate stock on shelves, refrigerators and other displays.
• Check product dates and maintain stock rotation.
• Assist with stocktaking and report low or damaged stock to the supervisor or manager.
• Maintain clean, tidy shelves, displays and customer areas.
• Assist customers with product enquiries and provide information about products available in the store.
• Prepare and maintain food and beverage displays where required.
• Follow store procedures relating to cash handling, food safety, health and safety and security.
• Assist with opening and closing duties as rostered.
• Handle customer enquiries and refer complaints to the supervisor or manager when necessary.
• Assist other team members with general day-to-day retail duties as required.
