Job summary

Isaac Construction in Greymouth seeks an experienced Crane Operator to join our civil construction team. This permanent role focuses on safe, efficient crane operation and supporting earthworks, bridges and roading projects across the West Coast.

You will work with site supervisors, riggers and project teams, operating a range of cranes and plant, ensuring adherence to lift plans, SWMS, and site-specific requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating mobile and/or truck-mounted cranes on civil construction projects.
  • WTR and rigging qualifications are advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of NZ health and safety legislation and safe lifting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile, crawler, and truck-mounted cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Operate other plant including diggers, loaders and labouring duties as required.
  • Plan and execute lifts with riggers following lift plans and site requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors, traffic management and stakeholders to coordinate worksites.
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental policies and participate in site inductions.

Isaac Construction – Greymouth, South Island

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Crane Operator to join our Construction team in Greymouth. This permanent role is ideal for an operator who takes pride in safe, efficient crane/plant operation and contributing to high-quality civil infrastructure projects. You will work closely with site supervisors, riggers and project teams to support earthworks, bridge, and roading projects across the West Coast operating cranes and a variety of other plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mobile cranes, crawler cranes, truck-mounted cranes and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate other plant including diggers, loaders and other construction plant along with labouring duties as and when required.
  • Plan and execute lifts in collaboration with riggers and site crews, following lift plans, SWMS and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors, traffic management personnel and other stakeholders to coordinate worksites and minimise disruption.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies, participate in site inductions and follow permit-to-work systems.
Skills & Experience
  • A Full NZ Class 4 licence, Class 2 Pilot Licence, BESS Certification and proven experience operating mobile and/or truck-mounted cranes on civil construction projects.
  • WTR and proven experience operating other construction plant would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Competence in basic rigging and slinging, or formal rigging qualifications will be an advantage.
  • Sound understanding of NZ health and safety legislation and safe lifting practices.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and contractors.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential.
