Job summary

Ministry of Justice is seeking a Court Security Officer for Huntly, Waikato. This permanent, full-time role involves engaging with diverse people, operating CCTV and access controls, and coordinating with Police and other agencies to ensure safe court proceedings.

As a Court Security Officer, you will patrol public areas, respond to alarms, and report security and safety threats. The position offers comprehensive training and future growth within Justice.

Qualifications

• Customer service, Security, Defence or Government experience is desirable but training is provided.
• Confident with technology.
• Experience with de-escalation techniques.
• Must hold and maintain a full clean New Zealand driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (including Police Vetting).
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural awareness relevant to Court Security and the Ministry of Justice.

Responsibilities

• Engage and build relationships with a diverse range of people.
• Security screening, operate and maintain CCTV and access control systems.
• Interact with Police, Corrections, lawyers and judicial officers to ensure safe court proceedings.
• Patrol public areas, perform security checks, respond to alarms and report threats or incidents.
