Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa – Department of Corrections is seeking Corrections Officers for Auckland Prison, Albany. The role involves supervising inmates, maintaining safety, and supporting rehabilitation through daily interactions.

Training and development are provided, with a strong focus on integrity and teamwork. Applicants should be able to communicate clearly, work a 24/7 roster, and demonstrate cultural awareness including Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

• Supervise people in Prison and manage daily routines.
• Escort prisoners around site to education programmes or appointments.
• Monitor, assess and manage behaviour and safety; reduce conflicts within units.
• Work within a 24/7 roster and be able to rotate shifts including weekends and public holidays.
• Contribute to public safety and rehabilitation goals through positive interactions.
