Job summary

Promisia Healthcare Limited in Feilding is seeking a reliable Cook / Kitchen Assistant to support residents across two care facilities. This casual role covers for staff on leave and may include weekend shifts.

You will prepare and serve nutritious meals, help with baking, keep the kitchen clean, follow menus, and ensure residents' dietary, cultural, and religious needs are met. The team values care, integrity, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for a large number of people.
• Experience working in Aged Care is advantageous.
• Current food industry certificates (NZQA 167/168) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious and well-presented meals.

• Support the smooth daily operation of the kitchen.

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Cook / Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Feilding, where we support residents in our various living options across two care facilities.

This is casual role, covering for staff when they’re away on leave and when we need an extra hand. This might include picking up shifts on weekends.

What you'll do:

• Prepare and cook and serve nutritious and well-presented meals
• Assist with baking
• Support the smooth daily operation of the kitchen
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work area
• Work closely with the Kitchen team to ensure menus are followed and residents’ dietary, cultural and religious needs are met
• Provide support to the wider kitchen team as needed and play an important part in delivering a positive dining experience for our residents
• Adhere to safe food handling practices
• Provide support to the Kitchen Manager as needed and complete all reasonable tasks as required by them, which may include food ordering, menu development, orientation / training for other kitchen team members, etc.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience cooking for a large number of people preferred
• Experience working in Aged Care will be advantageous
• Current food industry certificates, especially NZQA Unit Standard 167 and 168 will be advantageous.
