Job summary

The Barracks Ltd is hiring a Building & Construction Technician to join our nationwide team, based in Otago with possible regional relocations. You will work on residential, commercial and civil projects, performing site prep, framing, and installation tasks while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant construction experience.
• Ability to carry out a range of building and construction tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual construction work.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices and site safety requirements.
• Ability to complete basic site documentation and paperwork.
• Professional attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist across residential, commercial and civil construction projects.
• Carry out site preparation, demolition, excavation and site set-out.
• Support foundation, framing and structural works.
• Install framing, insulation, drywall, fibre cement boards and cladding.
• Support formwork, concrete, plaster, mortar and steel reinforcement works.
• Assist civil works including trenching, roadworks and driveways.
• Support installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of construction systems.
• Operate hand and power tools and handle construction materials.
• Contribute to quality inspections and basic project documentation.
• Maintain safe, clean and organised worksites.
