Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and grow our Waikato civil construction business, based in Hamilton. You will report to the Regional Manager and be a key member of the regional leadership team responsible for large construction teams and major capital works.

You will oversee commercial performance, client relationships, and business development across the region, with accountability for safety, quality, and delivery across projects in Waikato.

Qualifications

• Extensive proven experience in senior construction roles.
• Experience with capital works delivery and maintenance contracts.
• Understanding of contracts, financials and budgeting.
• Proven coaching and leadership of large teams.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to lead and grow our Waikato civil construction business.

Based in Hamilton and reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be a key member of the regional leadership team with responsibility for leading a large construction team.

You will oversee the delivery of major capital works and civil construction projects, while leading commercial performance, client relationships, business development, and operational delivery across the region.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Extensive proven experience in a similar type of role, with a key focus on capital works
• Understanding of the technical, contractual and financial requirements involved in construction and maintenance contracts
• Experience in tendering and commercial as well as budgeting, management of P&L and cost control
• Strong business acumen & business development capability
• Civil Engineering Degree desirable
• Proven track record in coaching and mentoring teams, communication and relationship management skills
