Job summary

Land Information New Zealand – Christchurch, South Island is seeking an entry-level Geospatial Specialist to develop GIS skills while contributing to conservation programmes. The role can be based in Wellington or Christchurch, with full training and mentorship provided.

You'll work with geospatial data, create dashboards, perform basic analysis, and support Kete Aronui and national conservation projects including Kauri Dieback.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
• Interest in conservation or biosecurity work.
• Basic understanding of spatial analysis concepts.
• Willingness to learn and develop GIS expertise.
• Exposure to Python programming.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysing and interpreting geospatial data
• Create maps and visualisations to support project objectives
• Learn and apply GIS tools to conservation challenges
• Provide technical support to team members as your skills develop
