Job summary

Madison Recruitment in Albany (Auckland region) seeks a motivated Compliance Officer to join a specialist team protecting the community and enforcing key legislation. The role is 40 hours per week with standard business hours and a temporary assignment running ASAP through December 2026.

The position involves a mix of office work and field visits, requiring reliability, strong communication, and attention to detail to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental or regulatory compliance (local government experience preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and prioritisation abilities.
  • Current full NZ driver licence.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., environmental science, planning, law, compliance) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports, infringement notices and compliance notices.
  • Manage a varied workload with accuracy.
  • Undertake investigations on complex Resource Management and Building Act breaches.
  • Engage with members of the public.
  • Follow established procedures and training requirements.
