Job summary

Job description

Every product Farmers sells – from clothing to kitchenware to furniture – needs to be safe, fit for purpose and compliant with New Zealand regulatory requirements before it reaches our customers. We're looking for a Compliance & Quality Manager to lead the team responsible for making that happen.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will lead Farmers' quality assurance and product compliance strategy across our full range, from apparel and textiles through to general merchandise such as home, kitchen, toys, furniture and appliances. You will lead the QA and Compliance teams, and partner closely with our Merchandise Manager – Sourcing & Production and Buying teams to embed quality and compliance thinking from the point of sourcing through to the customer.

This role carries real weight in how Farmers manages risk, protects its brand and maintains customer trust.

What you'll do

Lead and develop the QA and Compliance teams

Set and maintain quality assurance standards and testing methodology across all product categories

Monitor and apply New Zealand regulations relevant to consumer goods, for example the Consumer Guarantees Act, labelling, safety and chemical restrictions

Validate supplier documentation, including declarations, test reports and certifications

Oversee supplier and third party audits, working closely with our Sourcing & Production team

Lead investigations and escalations, and support product recalls where needed

Report on quality and compliance performance, risks and opportunities to the Head of Supply Chain and Executive

What you'll bring

Proven experience leading and developing technical or specialist teams, ideally in quality assurance, compliance or product safety

Strong knowledge of New Zealand regulatory requirements, for example the Consumer Guarantees Act, labelling, safety and chemical restrictions, across apparel and/or general merchandise

Proven ability to review lab test reports and certification documents and ensure regulatory alignment

Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging suppliers, internal teams and government agencies

Sound judgement and decision making in product quality, risk and compliance matters

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and structured file and document management systems

A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred but not essential
