Job summary

Healthvision in Oamaru, Otago, is seeking a part-time support worker to assist with personal cares, meal prep, mobility, and community access. You will work on rotating rosters, including am/pm and weekend shifts, in a community setting.

Ideal candidates may have Level 3/4 Health and Wellbeing qualifications and prior care experience, with a NZ driver's license and flexibility to travel locally. Training and support are provided to help clients live independently.

Qualifications

  • Ideally prior personal care experience.
  • Familiarity with complex medical needs and conditions.
  • Access to a car and a NZ Driver's License is required for travel.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster and varied hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal cares and daily living activities.
  • Support with meal prep, household management, and mobility.
  • Provide medication support and help access community services.
  • Move and transfer using hoists or manual handling as needed.

  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers

As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.

The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
  • Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

  • Pay Band:$25.22 - $31.40per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
